Our history
La Droguerie, a funny name for a funny shop. Our name is La Droguerie and we are retail color merchants. Let us tell you our story…
A French family business since 1975
We wanted a unique place to share our desires and our creations with another way of selling retail and lots of original colors.
In 1975, La Droguerie was born on rue du Jour in the Halles district of Paris. Initially opened by two handyman friends, sisters and brothers soon came to lend a hand, enjoyed “playing shopkeepers” and stayed on the team.
Years later, the story continues in the family.
The girls from La Droguerie share their favorites and creations in funny and colorful works.
1975
Birth of La Droguerie rue du Jour in Paris in a former butcher's shop. We sell beads, buttons and knitting yarn at retail and by weight. We arouse the curiosity of customers and magazines who discover us with pleasure!
1989
After the Parisian success, we are heading south to open our second La Droguerie boutique. Toulouse, the pink city welcomes us under the sun!
1992
The third La Droguerie boutique opens in Bordeaux under the sweet smell of cannelés. And, the same year begins the story of La Droguerie in Japan with the opening of the first boutique in Kyoto! Arigatô!
1993
The La Droguerie de Lille boutique opens its doors in a former fishmonger's, a timeless building with a beautiful mosaic on the facade!
1994
La Droguerie is setting up in the city center of Nantes, at the bottom of the Pommeraye passage, an unmissable place!
1995
After Kyoto, we are heading to the Japanese capital, Tokyo! Our second La Droguerie store is opening in Japan.
2000
How can you resist the praline tart? Lyon is calling us and we are opening a boutique there, La Droguerie, also called La Marchande de couleurs!
2001
A new project is born: the creation of La Droguerie editions with the release of our first book! Inside, knitting patterns imagined by the creators of La Droguerie
2004
That year, we wanted to put our feet in the water on the Côte d'Azur. La Droguerie arrives under the southern sun and opens its doors in Nice.
2005
Two openings this year, one in France in Strasbourg and one in Japan in Osaka. Two beautiful street boutiques full of colors!
2006
With the gentle sound of cicadas in the background, we head towards the old port, the Panier district, and the coves, La Droguerie is setting up in Marseille!
2009
See you in Rennes for our number 10! Opening following a strong demand for a boutique in Brittany! La Droguerie sewing patterns, a new range of homemade products is appearing in the boutique. Colorful fabrics complete the whole to offer a new retail sewing service to our customers.
2010
La Droguerie has its own dye house! Our beautiful exclusive colours imagined by the designers are dyed at Couleurs et Textiles, in the West of France.
2013
The next generation is coming! The adventure continues as a family with the new generation, the daughters of the creators who are now taking part in this great adventure!
2015
We have to follow the movement, the new generation is shaking up the networks and the first collaboration with an influencer is launched!
2017
Create, color, imagine… We develop the range of couture products and our exclusive fabrics see the light of day for the greatest pleasure of the designers at La Droguerie.
2021
Capital magazine places us in the Top 2 for our quality of customer service in the “Haberdashery, fabric stores and artistic creation” category!
2023
We are setting up new workshops and services in all our La Droguerie stores. It is now possible to do free or tailor-made workshops and repair your jewelry.

La Droguerie imagines several collections each year according to the season and fashion. Our concept is to share everything we love, that moves and that pleases! Collabs, events, partnerships, meetings, exchanges… Always in color and in tune with the times!
Original homemade ideas
We like to do things ourselves, it's DIY. We create our own collections of beads, knitting patterns, sewing patterns, our exclusive patterned fabrics.
The great strength of La Droguerie is to arouse the imagination. Models of jewelry, knitwear, sewing are offered but nothing can be bought ready-made. We like to say that we sell ideas and not products.
La Droguerie sells homemade instructions and materials, detailing everything. If there is a tiny touch of color on your sweater, you will have the necessary 20 grams of wool in your package. And if you are short of
10 gr, we will provide you with the 10 gr.
A welcoming and competent team
A network of 10 stores in major French cities in addition to a website. This allows you to see the products “in real life”, touch the
softness of our wools, admire the rainbows of colors… Are you hesitating?
