Pure combed wool from La Droguerie
The Douce Highland, mini.B, Benjamine, and Lainorme ranges are all pure combed wools. This wool comes from sheep raised at high altitudes, producing a beautiful pile that is carefully sorted to keep only the softest. And because it's spun in a combed fashion, the result is supple, strong, and soft.
The term wool refers to sheep's wool. Once shorn, the wool is sorted and washed to remove plant debris and suint (animal fat).
Combed wool is superior in quality to carded wool. Combing retains only the longest fibers, the most beautiful and noblest. The wool sliver passes through a series of combs to remove short fibers (which cause pilling) and remove impurities. After being combed and divided into strands, the wool is twisted into yarn.
These four knitting yarn ranges all share the same base but differ in weight. Douce Highland is the little sister of mini.B, which is itself the little sister of Benjamine. The largest of the family is Lainorme.
Sweet Highland
A fingering yarn, ideal for baby knits, blankets, hats etc. This yarn can be knitted with needles from 2.5mm for a classic jersey piece and up to 4mm for an accessory.
mini.B
A thread for lovers of size 5 needles. A ballet of “B”s wanders over the names of the colors: Wheat, Begonia, Whale, Balearic Islands, Ice Floe… It leaves you speechless!
Benjamine
One of our classics, revisited. A bulky yarn that's easy to use in any situation, with a wide range of colors. Knit this yarn with needles between 6 and 8 mm.
Lainorme
For fans of large needles, choose Lainorme. A super bulky yarn designed for soft accessories. Knit Lainorme on needles between 12 and 15mm.
